Diamond Mendez is a proud Latin American dance artist. She strives to reach the hearts of people through shared experiences, activism, storytelling and culture. Her work provides a space that welcomes every type of artist to share their body languages, thoughts, and expressions. She finds that every moving artist has something unique to offer, and by helping guide those to transform and revive what they already have inside of themselves they can create something reflective of the human experience. Her practice is heavily influenced by performative tasks that are driven by true and raw emotion with elements of contemporary, modern, improvisation and a fusion of Spanish styles. Diamond envisions the world of dance regardless of genre, style, or story to have some sort of humanistic connection. Her movement research and interests include the use of play in dance, technology in partnership with dance, story telling, improvisational score & games, choreographic challenge, storytelling, usage of props, questioning what is dance?, performance in collaboration with art, unexpected genre fusions, interactive dance design, dance as a language in conversation, dance film, & community improvisation jams.

Diamond has a BA in Dance Studies from Columbia College, SC.
